This comprehensive supply and installation project of the Mitsubishi HVRF system was meticulously executed across multiple levels of this 1890's 5 storey office building in Kensington, London, during a complete renovation. It included an upgrade of the five existing and operational office floors, specifically encompassing the Building Management System and HVAC controls to the Ground Floor, 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, 3rd Floor, 4th Floor, and 5th Floor. Additionally, the installation extended to specialised areas including the SER Room, Security Room, and the Door Curtain area. The project, valued at over £1,000,000, involved a wide array of components and services, which included the following:
A total of 225 Fan Coil Units strategically distributed over 22 distinct systems, each designed to ensure optimal air distribution and temperature control throughout the various spaces within the building. These units were selected for their efficiency and ability to provide a comfortable environment, tailored to the needs of each specific area.
Direct Expansion (DX) Systems installed on each floor, facilitating effective cooling and heating as required. These systems are known for their reliability and performance, making them ideal for a multi-storey installation where varying temperature control is essential.
All necessary Air Conditioning equipment, which includes not only the fan coil units and DX systems but also the condensers and any supplementary components required for a fully functional HVAC setup. Each piece of equipment was chosen for its compatibility and efficiency to ensure seamless integration into the existing infrastructure.
Extensive Pipework that was carefully laid out to connect all components of the HVAC system. This included both supply and return lines, ensuring that the refrigerant could efficiently circulate throughout the system, providing consistent cooling and heating across all floors.
High-quality Insulation applied to all pipework to minimise energy loss and enhance the overall efficiency of the system. Proper insulation is crucial in maintaining the desired temperature and reducing operational costs, thereby contributing to a more sustainable energy footprint for the building.
A sophisticated Central Control system that allows for the monitoring and management of the entire HVAC setup from a single point. This system is designed to optimise performance, enabling adjustments to be made easily and efficiently to accommodate changes in occupancy or external weather conditions.
Individual control mechanisms for each floor, empowering occupants to tailor the climate within their specific areas. This feature enhances comfort and energy efficiency, as it allows for localised adjustments rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to temperature regulation.
Thorough Commissioning of the entire system, which involved rigorous testing and fine-tuning of all components to ensure they operate at peak performance. This process is essential to identify any potential issues and rectify them before the system is fully handed over for regular use, ensuring a reliable and effective HVAC solution.
